Color blind Cards celebrate winners of Search for a Verse in aid of the ACLT
‘The only thing that should be separated by colour is laundry’

Having imprinted on history back in 2007 as the first independent greeting card publisher to secure a presence for multi ethnic greeting cards in the British high-street, on November 6th 2014 at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London, the award-winning card brand celebrated the winners of their Search for a verse competition in association with Not-for-profit community initiative Words of Colour.

The winning budding poets were named as Isatu Bundu, Galina Makohon and Natreema Asafu-Adjaye, and were presented with their greeting cards in which their winning verse takes pride of place. Profits from the sale of these three designs are being donated to the ACLT to support the charity’s ongoing fundraising efforts.

“As long term friends of the ACLT, we remain in awe of the contribution the charity continues to make to the black, mixed-race and Asian community.

The strength, inspiration and vehicle for change that is the ACLT, represents the very essence of the Color blind Cards ethos, and we hope that the contribution of these three winning Search for a verse cards, will form just the beginning of a meaningful partnership.” Color blind Cards Founder Jessica Huie, MBE

A highlight of the evening included poet and community champion Karl Lokko, sharing his acclaimed piece ‘The Butterfly effect.’ The poem which charts his metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly – or disfunction to greatness, received a resounding applause from attendees who included BBC London’s Eddie Nestor, Beverley De-Gale OBE, Orin Lewis, OBE Inspirational You founder Sonia Megee, Paks founder Peter Mudahay and Apprentice star Lauren Riley.
